Sometimes there are moments in the sport of mixed martial arts that transcend more than just two combatants waging war inside a cage. The amazing moments like what we witnessed recently between fans and Jasmine Jasudavicius makes this sport so beautiful.
With UFC 297 almost fully booked, Jasmine Jasudavicius used her personal social media and took a chance to see if she could fill the final spot on the card to represent her home country.
Some fighters’ social media as of late has been a double-edged sword. It is quite unfortunate to witness so-called fans using their social media platforms to attack fighters relentlessly, from the comfort of their own home. It has turned into a bitter place when truly dedicated fans witness these warriors having to deal with the insults from disgruntled fans who simply lost money on a bet or just want to add salt into a fighter’s wound of being knocked out.
Jasmine Jasudavicius and The Power of Social Media
For Jasmine Jasudavicius, something special happened and she didn’t know the power of social media as her army of fans pulled together to try and help her achieve her dream to fight in Toronto, close to family and friends. Mick Maynard and Dana White’s notifications must have went wild as they got bombarded when Jasudavicius fans banded together with one mission to get her on that fight card. Surprisingly, it didn’t take long and Jasudavicius announced she will be fighting at UFC 297.
With all the excitement Jasudavicius has heading into UFC 297, fight fans cannot overlook Priscila Cachoeira. Cachoeira looks to play spoiler and get back to her winning ways after her UFC 291 submission loss to Miranda Maverick. For Cachoeira, what a way it could be to reintroduce herself to the division with a win over the hometown favourite – and likely silencing the jam-packed arena.
Jasmine Jasudavicius is also coming off a recent loss to Tracy Cortez, and would like to bounce back into the win column. Using the driving force of the crowd may give her an edge that makes her feel invincible.
What It Will Mean to Jasmine?
To hear that roar of the crowd from her native countrymen will be something she could quite possibly remember for the rest of her life, regardless of the outcome of the fight. No matter if she wins, loses, or draws at UFC 297, Jasudavicius should feel special that her fans have so much love and support for her.
