Jena Bishop was able to secure a submission victory at PFL 1 in San Antonio over Chelsea Hackett in the first round.
Jena Bishop Secured First Round Finish at
The first of the regular season fights started on the 4th of April 2024 in San Antonio. The first fight was in the women’s flyweight division, where Jena Bishop, an up-and-coming prospect and took on Chelsea Hackett who had a record of 4-1-1.
Bishop started off her season in the best possible way.
Jena achieved this by finishing her opponent off in the first round in the way of arm bar in the first round. Jena Bishop was able to grab the back of her opponent Chelsea Hackett with relative ease. While having the back while both women were on the feet, Bishop was able to get the fight to the ground by striking Hackett. This led to Hackett going to the ground to try and escape the strikes in desperation.
Once the fight got to the ground and in Jena Bishop’s world, she kept up the damage to her opponent. Hackett was then able to transition to the top position. Jena Bishop, however, was able to lock in an arm bar to defend from the back. While relentlessly trying to escape Hackett tried to slam Bishop to the ground, which led to the beginning of the end.
Making a Name for Herself
Jena Bishop is making a name for herself in the MMA community. Coming into the Bellator brand 4-0 after submitting 2 and clinching 2 decisions in LFA.
Even before PFL had purchased Bellator. Jena was able to get her name out there on a global stage. This was done by clinching a decision victory against Elina Kallionidou and submitting Ilara Joanne.
Since the merger, she has been picked to fight under the PFL banner. She is fighting this season in the flyweight division. This first-round finish will allow her to have a good chance of making the playoffs. This is due to receiving 6 points for the finish.
