Casey O’Neill makes a triumphant return to competition against Jennifer Maia and the bout will be taking place in London at UFC 286 at flyweight.
Jennifer Maya vs Casey O’Neill
Maia, who’s coming off of a win over Maryna Moroz last November, will be taking on the surging Scottish/Aussie fighter Casey O’Neill. Only winning 2 out of her last five fights, Maia needs to use this opportunity against a fan favourite to propel herself back into title contention. O’Neill is coming off of a very good win over Roxanne Modafferi last February and can make big waves in the division if she can beat Maia.
The Flyweight Division Right Now
At this moment in time, the flyweight division has had a real mix-up right at the top. Last Saturday night, Erin Blanchfield submitted the infamous Jessica Andrade. Effectively scoring her a title shot after Shevchenko’s next defence. Speaking of the champ, Shevchenko will defend her belt against Alexa Grasso at UFC 285 in March. Providing Shevchenko can beat Grasso, Blanchfield is for sure the next contender if not one fights away from a title shot.
How Does UFC 286 Look Now?
At the moment, the title shot at the top of the card is still intact. Leon Edwards is set to defend his title against Kamaru Usman, followed by a fight for the ages in Justin Gaejthe vs Rafael Fiziev as the lightweight co-main. Marvin Vettori is also fighting on the card against Roman Dolidze. The UFC is still looking for a replacement fight for Lerone Murphy, whose fight with Nathaniel wood has fallen due to Wood slicing his knee open.
Should be a good night of fights for the British fans! Which fights are you looking forward to the most?
