Joe Fields has announced in a Facebook post that he will officially be making the jump to a full-time fighter. Those who follow the UK scene are salivating at the news, considering Fields has long been considered a top flyweight.
More time to hone his craft will do wonders for Fields, who is already viewed as an elite prospect. Fields said he wouldn’t stop until he is where he wants to be, the UFC. We believe he’s well on his way.
Where Joe Stands
Joe holds a record of 5-1 currently and is on a three-fight win streak. He most recently defeated Sheldon Ryan and looked in top form. His two opponents prior were disposed of in just over two minutes combined. So, it’s easy to see why many consider Joe the top Flyweight on the UK amateur scene.
Moving to full time allows him to now spend the time needed in the gym to truly enter the next level. Fields’ number one priority now becomes training, which can help young fighters turn the page. Joe knows there’s no better time than the present, and he’s running with the opportunities. If anyone is capable of a smooth transition, it’s got to be Fields.
It will be interesting to see when Joe Fields ends up back in action, as the flyweight scene is currently thriving. Shawon Choudhury holds both Almighty and UKFC gold and could be perfectly matched up with Joe Fields for all the marbles. If Joe is number one at Flyweight, then Shawon is number two. If Shawon is number one, then Joe is number two. These two fighters are tied to each other whether they like it or not, so Choudhury could be the perfect fight for Fields to show the changes that going full time truly bring. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a fan who doesn’t want to see this fight.
Joe Fields’ Fight Focus
Regardless of what’s next for Joe, his focus is firmly on fighting. This allows Joe and those around him to truly take advantage of every minute of every session in the gym. To properly set up his dieting and his conditioning and iron out all of the details that will go into preparing Joe for the next level.
Fields stated the right people surround him, and we’re inclined to believe him. If Fields is this good already, then we can only imagine the heights he could rise to after having gone full time.
