UFC commentator Joe Rogan was angered by a judge’s decision to give Tyson Fury a definitive win against Francis Ngannou. One judge scored the fight 95-94 for Fury and another scored it 95-94 in favour of Ngannou. The scorecard that caused the most controversy though read 96-93 for Fury. Rogan had some choice words for this particular judge.
Joe Rogan Angered by Decision
On his Podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, the commentator didn’t hold back when describing one judge’s decision to score the fight 96-93 for Fury.
“Francis Ngannou had never had a boxing match ever in his life, had zero boxing matches. He was the UFC heavyweight champion. Knocked down Tyson Fury in the third round, beat him up in the eighth round,” said Rogan.
“Most people, including me, thought he should’ve won the decision – including most boxers, most boxing pundits. He lost by one point on one judge’s scorecard. He won on one judge’s scorecard, and another judge, who should go to jail, had it 96-93 for Tyson Fury, which is f*****g outrageous.”
Ngannou Stuns the Combat Sports World
Fury may have taken the decision win, but Ngannou was considered the winner of the evening by most. No one expected to see the disciplined performance that the Cameroonian-French fighter displayed that night. He was calm, composed and he picked his shots well throughout the fight, even dropping the WBC heavyweight champion to the canvas in round three with a left hook. It might go down as an official defeat for the MMA star, but his stock only grew with this incredible feat.
Fury – regarded as one of the best boxers of his generation – was left stunned and embarrassed. He was a shadow of his former self, and was well and truly humbled by Ngannou.
“We thought [Fury] was going to run him over because he’s the boxing heavyweight champion,” Rogan continued.
“‘There’s no way this guy can box with me.’ He even said at the beginning of the fight, ‘it’s time to go to school,’ and then Francis said at the end of the fight, ‘you’re a sh***y professor.'”
