Joe Rogan Reacts to Mike Tyson’s Performance Against Jake Paul
Joe Rogan is never one to shy away from speaking his mind, and his reaction to Mike Tyson’s performance against Jake Paul on Friday night was no exception. Tyson, at 58 years old, showed glimpses of his legendary skills early in the fight, but fatigue quickly set in, and the younger Paul took control.
A Hopeful Start, but Disappointment Followed
Before the fight, Rogan shared his excitement on social media, expressing cautious optimism.
“I’m getting ready to watch this Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight like I’m watching someone cast a spell that I hope actually works. And I don’t really believe in magic. But I want to believe,” Rogan wrote.
The fight started with Tyson showing flashes of his old self. However, by the third round, his energy had noticeably dropped. Paul capitalized on Tyson’s fatigue, keeping his distance and landing consistent punches.
Paul’s Strategy and Tyson’s Struggle
Jake Paul controlled the pace for most of the eight rounds. Despite Tyson making it to the final bell, the judges unanimously scored the fight in favor of Paul: 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73.
After the fight, Paul admitted to holding back against the boxing legend.
“Yeah, definitely. Definitely a bit,” Paul said when asked if he went easy on Tyson. “I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt.”
Paul’s respect for Tyson was evident throughout the fight, and he even bowed to the former heavyweight champion at the end of the contest.
The event didn’t come without its share of criticism. Some fans at the venue booed the fight, feeling underwhelmed by the action. Viewers at home also voiced frustration due to technical glitches during the broadcast.
For Rogan, the fight didn’t deliver the magic he had hoped for, but he acknowledged the respect both fighters showed each other.
A Long-Awaited Showdown
This fight had been years in the making. Initially scheduled for July of last year, it was postponed due to Tyson experiencing stomach issues. Now, with the bout finally completed, Paul improved his record to 11-1, while Tyson’s stands at 50-7.
Though the fight may not have lived up to all expectations, Rogan’s candid reaction highlights the unique spectacle of seeing a combat sports legend like Tyson step into the ring against a polarizing figure like Jake Paul.
