Alexander Volkanovski is one of the greatest fighters to ever compete in MMA. He is on his path and doesn’t look to be stopping anytime soon. The Australian fighter holds the featherweight champion and is arguably the most dominant featherweight the UFC has ever seen. Regarding the pound-for-pound rankings, many people believe that Volkanovski should be at the top, including UFC commentator Joe Rogan.
The Great Alexander Volkanovski
Volkanovski is incredibly impressive inside the octagon and looks unbeatable at 145. He dominates the majority of his fights and rarely loses a round. As previously stated, he is the featherweight champion and has beaten the likes of Max Holloway, The Korean Zombie, and Yair Rodriguez. He has fought for the lightweight belt but came up short in a contest. However, many people believe that he won the belt. Volkanovski is an incredible competitor, and Joe Rogan explains why when speaking on his podcast.
“He did more damage. I think he imposed his skill set. It’s also insanely impressive that he goes up from (featherweight) to fight a massive (lightweight). That guy is as big at (155 pounds) as anybody is, and at the end of the fight, (Volkanovski) is on top beating him up.”
“He drops him, gets on top of him and has massive moments throughout the fight.”
Joe Rogan On The Pound-For-Pond Rankings
Rogen then went on to discuss where Volkanovski stands on a pound-for-pound ranking.
“He’s No. 1 pound-for-pound. They have him as not pound-for-pound (No. 1 in the UFC) because he lost that fight (to Islam Makhachev). I think you could make a real argument that he won that fight. I think he won the fight. In my mind, he won the fight.”
