Amateur MMA fighter Joel Bassnett vows to put on violent show this Saturday at British Fighting Championship 4.
The Middlesbrough Sports Village will host the night of action, with some of the brightest up-and-comers making the walk. Bassnett is one of the exciting prospects on the card, and he’s looking to put on a show for those attending.
Ahead of fight night, we managed to get a word with Joel Basnett. Hear what he had to say below.
Interview With Joel Bassnett
Joel, assuming you’re ready to rock and get back in there. How are you feeling physically and mentally as we close in on fight week?
I am feeling sharp and ready to go get the job done.
You’ve been out there twice this year, but I do believe it’s not counted towards your amateur record. What’s your take on that, and how do you feel about that?
I’ve had two fights this year. Both my opponents pulled out on a week of the fight and had to fight who they found for me, which weren’t very well-matched opponents, disappointing all the work I put in as well in the fight camps for them and for them not to be counted on record.
Basnett on Latest Outings
Given your last two wins, pull-outs happen, and it’s not your fault. You can only fight who’s put in front of you at the end of the day. However, you finished both in the first round. Do you take away anything from those fights?
To be honest, mate, I didn’t really take much from them in the last two fights. They didn’t feel like a fight that would have rather had better-skilled opponents to face.
Next Saturday, you’ll face Eddie Burns. What are your thoughts on this matchup and the styles you both possess?
Eddie looks like a good game opponent, and I think it’s a good matchup an not one to be missed.
There’s a decent amount of tape out there on Eddie. How much have you watched, and is there anything in there you’re impressed with and perhaps not impressed with?
I have watched some, and he looks well-rounded. He looks game and comes for scrap, but I think I have the skills to get the job done.
Finally, tell the readers what they can expect to see from Joel Bassnett next week at BFC 4.
You can expect violence and to see the best version of me in there.
