Today, promoters Probellum have announced Casimero Jr vs Paul Butler for the WBO World Bantamweight Championship. Mandatory challenger Paul Butler and champion Casimero Jr were originally scheduled to fight in December. Unfortunately, Casimero Jr had to pull out due to illness.
Casimero Jr, who holds the WBO World Bantamweight title, will travel to the UK to defend his titles. The fight is due to take place at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool on April 22nd. Liverpool fan favourite Paul Butler will make sure the Filipino Casimero Jr certainly knows he is entering his backyard.
Both fighters are boasting impressive records, Casimero Jr – 31-4, 21 knockouts and Paul Butler – 33-2, 15 knockouts. There is certainly going to be fireworks in the main event in Liverpool.
With this being Probellum’s first event at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, the President of Probellum Richard Schaefer said:
“Liverpool is one of the most passionate boxing cities in the world and we are delighted to be holding our first show at the M&S Bank Arena in April.”
Undercard
The full undercard is yet to be announced however Probellum will be putting together a great card for the local passionate fans. Liverpool’s own Rocky Fielding is featuring on the card. The former WBA super-middleweight champion is on a two-fight win streak since his defeat to Canelo. Rocky has stated he is “buzzing” to be fighting back in Liverpool in front of his home crowd.
Probellum announced the signings of the McGrail brothers earlier this week. Also from Liverpool, they will be fighting in front of their home crowd. Hot prospects Peter (2-0, 1 knockout) and Joe (1-0, 1 knockout) both secured second-round finishes in their last fights. The pair both fought at M&S Bank Arena on the Connor Benn vs Chris Algieri undercard in December.
John Riel Casimero Jr vs Paul Butler for the WBO world bantamweight title will bring a great night of boxing to Liverpool. With the undercard shaping up nicely, this will be a night not to miss for the Liverpool faithful.
