Johnny Eblen Criticises Donald Cerrone
Speaking to media after PFL Super fights Johnny Eblen said; “I just don’t think it’s a good idea to retire. Take a bunch of steroids and then come back and fight again. It isn’t a good look for the sport and the promotion.”
“I think Conor [McGregor] paved the way. I think he’s influencing a lot of other people to do it, and I think people are trying to fight past their prime and use all these substances and it’s just not natural.”
“It’s not good… Your brain doesn’t heal from steroids. So, all that CTE just adds up. I’m very against steroids [and] I’m very against people fighting past their prime.”
Donald Cerrone Return Marred by Negativity
After Donald Cerrone announced his return to the sport, it led to a wide range of negativity from fans and fighters. Cerrone, who retired in July 2022, has had a long career in MMA. Fans and fighters have been very vocal in displaying their disagreement with the cowboy’s decision. The cowboy is also a part of the UFC’s Hall of Fame.
Johnny Eblen is the latest fighter to speak out. It has also led to former champion Daniel Cormier and UFC boss Dana White publicly addressing the situation. Furthermore, with Cerrone stating he has openly been using steroids since his retirement it doesn’t bode well for the UFC. With a return to MMA pending for Donald Cerrone he would need to pass the doping tests prior to arranging a fight.
The question remains who will Donald Cerrone fight and under which promotion will the American fight for. With criticism mounting from the MMA community it could lead to the athletic commission refusing to allow Cerrone to compete.
