Eddie Hearn confirms that the plan is for Johnny Fisher to rematch Dave Allen in May after the first fight between the two ended in a controversial win for Fisher.
Johnny Fisher has faced controversy since the first with many questioning the decision win he got in Saudi Arabia.
Fisher has never shied away from the decision, immediately welcoming the rematch for Dave Allen barely 24 hours after the final bell.
Dave Allen has already confirmed Fisher and his team have reached out for the rematch.
“They’ve already reached out to me about a rematch. I think I’ll headline a show in the UK next year from what I’ve been told, whether that will actually happen, things are always changing in this game. It looks like the most possible next fight for me but other people have also offered me other things.”
Allen has recognised that Johnny Fisher would be the favourite fight for him.
“The Fisher fight is the favourite for me. It’s a fight I’m open to happening. It’s the one on my wish list, but you never know what could happen.”
Eddie Hearn has confirmed he aims to have that rematch in May.
“We want Johnny (Fisher) to rematch Dave Allen next.”
Johnny Fisher Injury?
Hearn confirmed that Johnny Fisher suffered an injury which will leave him out of the ring till late February.
“He perforated his ear drum and it’s still quite bruised. He won’t be able to train until mid-to-late February so then will box again probably in May. I’d like him to go straight into the rematch and I think he would too.”
Johnny Fisher kept his unbeaten career alive despite being knocked down by Dave Allen back in their 2024 Riyadh Season bout.
Dave Allen said before the fight it was the hardest he had trained for a bout.
“It’s really switched me on. The thought of me being on some highlight reel is terrifying. I’ve trained really hard. Mainly for that reason.”
It is expected that Allen will complete just as hard if not harder after seeing what he could do to Johnny Fisher.
Both have been very respectful in the lead-up and aftermath of their first bout and a UK main event could be on the cards for May.
