Interview With Jordan Allan
You’re all set to kickstart your 2023 campaign at Goliath Fight Series 4. Having had a slight rest and recharge of the batteries, how’s the mindset and body ahead of Saturday night in Alloa?
Yeah am feeling good for Goliath and am ready to put on a show and plus am finally getting to fight at flyweight, which is my natural weight class.
Last year saw you go (0-2), but you did deliver some exciting fights. How would you sum up your 2022 in terms of competition?
It was a blast. Even though I didn’t get the wins, it was good to get in the cage to compete and to gain as much experience as possible there’s no other feeling like it.
What are some of the biggest lessons you learned from your first year competing in MMA?
I’ve learned that you need to be focused at all times; it’s not just about having a skill set. It’s about all the extra sessions that need to be done.
Jordan Allan Talks Wins and Losses
At this stage, are wins and losses something that you particularly care about? Are you beating yourself up after a loss, or are you under the correct impression that the amateur scene is just for learning and improving and the wins will come?
I’ve not really been thinking about my loss; I just keep my focus on my next opponent. After all, it’s only amateur. It’s about wracking up as much experience as possible.
On the flip side, off-course winning would be a significant reward for the hard work you’ve been putting in inside the gym walls. Can you highlight the importance of a victory just purely for your confidence levels?
A win would be great. I know I can win and am very confident in myself that I’ll be walking away with my hand raised on Saturday night.
In terms of preparation this time around, how has your camp been structured, and are there any areas you’ve focused on developing more than others?
I’ve been working on everything, but I’ve been mainly focused on my boxing. I feel like I could off let my hands go more in my outing.
You’ll be fighting Lewis Nickell on Saturday night, who’s built a large following over the years. Were you aware of him prior to the fight getting booked?
Yeah, I used to hear about him when I was in high school, so I knew he had a big following.
The Debuting Lewis Nickell
He’ll be making his official debut after two novice fights. Do you even bother looking into those, or is it just show up and focus on your own game?
I’ve seen footage of his novice fights. It’ll be completely different without the shin guards when it’s shin to the bone. It’s a different game.
Many will be tuned in to watch Lewis fight, given his following and his platform. Does that come with a sense of pressure or is that something you’re eager to welcome to spoil their party?
There’s no pressure whatsoever. The pressure is on him with all his followers, but I am looking forward to spoiling his get-together.
Finally, leave us with your official fight prediction.
I predict that I will batter him senseless from pillar to post.
