“The headspace is all focused on adding another belt to the collection. Training has been good. Sharpening the tools after a fight, as always. I had a few things to work on after my last title defence, which I am looking forward to showing in this fight! So really just staying focused preparing for five rounds against a good game opponent.”
Jordan Rutherford Ready for Five Rounds
Acknowledging Gohar’s recent activity in the cage, Rutherford sees similarities between their paths. He respects Gohar’s hunger and determination, emphasizing the significance of facing formidable opponents. Rutherford states:
“Yeah, he’s been active, and that’s what I want. Not even for the fact I can look at the footage, but more so because he’s like me. Hungry to compete. Stepping in there with top welterweights, you gotta respect it because I’m on the same path. He’s big, he’s rangy, he’s just won a title the other week as well, so no looking past him at all. I know how good I get after fights, so really looking forward to this!”
When assessing the challenge Gohar poses, Rutherford emphasizes his preference for tough opponents who push him to excel. He believes that styles make fights and anticipates a highly competitive showdown. Rutherford asserts:
“Like I said, I don’t want easy fights. I really don’t. I want good opponents that are gonna bring the best out of me before, during, and after each fight! Once I’m in there, styles make fights and I’m hard to deal with when I’m in there. Everyone will tell you that. He’s hungry, and he’s definitely one of… If not the best guy I’ve been in there with so far, so not looking past him at all, ready for the 5 rounds.”
Taking it As It Comes
Maintaining his impressive fighting frequency, Rutherford credits his dedication to proper recovery and training methods. He emphasizes the importance of this active approach as he looks ahead to his transition to the professional ranks. Jordan Rutherford explains:
“Taking every fight this year as they come, each opponent been better than the last. All fights lately are 5 rounds, so a lot of hard work been going into these camps physically and mentally preparing for them, so just the experience and time in the cage will do me a world of good going pro, which we’re looking for the end of the year.”
Reflecting on his recent training stint in Thailand, Rutherford highlights the transformative experience and its impact on his mindset and skillset. He emphasizes the invaluable lessons learned and the newfound appreciation for the journey. Rutherford shares:
“Thailand was the best place ever. From being able to chill like you’re on holiday to training with the best in the world. Bangtao is a special place, and I urge anyone to go out there and get some training. The people, the coaches, the experience, all come together lovely and you come back a refreshed better person/fighter.”
As the anticipation builds for the title bout, Rutherford visualizes a victory earned through endurance, determination, and unwavering focus. He asserts his readiness for a five-round battle and affirms his commitment to seizing the moment. Rutherford declares:
“I’m there for 5 rounds. Push a good pace and be ready for whatever he brings. I’ve had this moment wrote down for a while and I’ll not be throwing it away at the first chance I get. This is my time!!!”
