Jorge Masivdal, friend and former training partner of Dusting Poirier lost $100k on his BMF title fight at UFC 291.
Last Saturday night the BMF title moved on from Jorge “Gamebread” and onto Justin “The Highlight” Gaethje. Justin hit a stunning 2nd round head kick knockout to secure the victory and one of the knockouts of the year so far.
Jorge himself was there to wrap the belt around Gaethjes waist in another bitter twist in the fight for Gamebread. Masvidal has been a long-time friend and training partner of Dustin Poirier and was so confident in the victory at UFC 291 that he placed $100k bet on the outcome.
Jorge Masivdal Discusses the BMF Title Fight
Jorge spoke to TNT Sports (video below) after the main event “[I’m] making wagers that I probably shouldn’t. I put $100,000 on D.P, on Dustin Poirier. Kids I’m sorry, you’ve got to go to public school now.”
Gamebread then continued by giving his thoughts on the fight: “I felt Dustin was dictating the pace, landing the better shots in the first round.”
“It was all going Dustin’s way and then the fight game [happened]. Justin looked down and came up with the head kick and caught my boy, which it was a perfect kick. Dustin actually kind of caught some of it because he had his hand up but he didn’t have both hands up so the kick wrapped around the back of his head and that was all she wrote. That was a hell of a shot.”
“Dustin looked in the best shape ever and obviously he’s my teammate so I wanted the world for him, I wanted him to win but hats off to Justin. Great fight and a great competitor always.”
Jorge’s final comment on the fight further demonstrates his loyalty to Dustin “I’m just hurt, I wanted my boy to get that belt.”
