Jorge Masvidal, The Miami native is set to collide with Stocktons finest, Nate Diaz on June 1. Only this time round they’ll be swinging 10 oz of leather as opposed to the knuckle protection offered up in the world of MMA. Scheduled for 10 rounds of professional boxing action at 175lbs. Two of MMA’s finest backyard brawlers take to the squared circle.
Since their previous bout in November 2019, Diaz has consistently claimed Jorge Masvidal got lucky with a doctors stoppage on his way to claiming the UFC’s BMF belt in it’s inaugural title fight, something that still doesn’t sit quite right with ‘Gamebred’. The rematch was announced on Wednesdays episode of The MMA Hour hosted by Ariel Helwani.
Jorge Masvidal Speaks on Nate Diaz Boxing Match
“I want to murder this guy. And it’s nothing personal with him, but I want to beat the f****** brakes off him. He always said that the referee saved me. I don’t think anybody with common sense would agree. So I think this fight right here puts an end to all that bulls***.”
Both men have previously competed in the world of pro boxing. While neither outing offered up much by way of credibility in the current boxing landscape. Jorge Masvidal scraped a majority decision win over Joseph Benjamin back in 2005. Diaz struggled with an inexperienced YouTube sensation in his bout against Jake Paul resulting in a unanimous decision loss.
“I’m going to be in the best shape of my life. I know he’s going to be in the best shape of his life — it’s not like he’s fighting Jake Paul and he’s coming up off the couch. He knows that if he’s not in shape, I’m going to make him look bad and I’ll get him out of there in two rounds. He knows with me you’ve got to die every day in the gym to maybe step in that ring and have a fighting chance.
Masvidal Wont Hold Back in Rematch
“Because I don’t play that s***, man. I’m trying to kill this motherf*****, and he knows it personally. He has the scars to prove it. He sees them things every day in the mirror when he looks at it and knows, ‘This guy is going to try to f****** kill me, bro.’ So Nate, get your ass in shape because I’m coming to break your f****** face, brother.”
Jorge Masvidal clearly not short of words of warning for Diaz ahead of the rematch, dramatically dubbed as ‘Last Man Standing’ which will be available on PPV via Fanmio with current price listed at $49.99 set to rise to $79.99 in April. The undercard is expected to be released in the coming weeks.
