Jorge Masvidal UFC Comeback: The Fighter He Wants to Face
Jorge Masvidal is set to make his highly anticipated UFC comeback in 2025. After being away from the Octagon for over a year, Masvidal has revealed that there is only one fighter in his sights for his return: Leon Edwards.
Masvidal’s last appearance in the UFC was in 2023 when he suffered a loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287. The defeat brought his pro record to 35 wins (16 knockouts, 2 submissions) and 17 losses. However, the veteran fighter is now focused on returning to the sport in 2025.
“We’ll be coming into the UFC next year,” Masvidal confirmed. “We’re working out the details, the dates, and getting the card set up. It’s definitely going to be in the UFC.”
Masvidal’s UFC Comeback: Why Leon Edwards is the Target
Although Masvidal’s career has been full of big names, there’s only one fighter who stands out for his UFC comeback. “I think it would be Leon,” he confirmed. This refers to the ongoing rivalry between the two, which began in 2019 when they got into a backstage altercation. Masvidal famously delivered a “two-piece and a soda” to Edwards, and ever since, there’s been tension between them.
Masvidal sees this as the perfect fight for his UFC comeback. “We have unfinished business,” Masvidal said. “Leon is scared of me, man. He’s never wanted this fight. I want to fight the world’s best.”
With a record like Masvidal’s, it makes sense that he would want to test himself against someone like Edwards, who is currently among the top welterweights in the division. “Let’s roll the dice for the No. 1 guy in the world,” Masvidal added. “I’ll find out if I am who I say I am.”
The Importance of This UFC Comeback
After spending time away from the sport, Masvidal believes his UFC comeback will be his chance to show he’s still among the best. “Maybe I shock the world,” he said, adding that he’s betting on himself for this comeback.
Masvidal’s confidence is clear. “We’re betting 100% on me,” he said. “Leon’s scared of me, man. Here I am calling out his name. What’s up, motherf*****?”
Despite the long layoff, Masvidal’s mindset is as strong as ever. His focus is on taking down the top guys in the sport, and he’s ready to return to the UFC with a vengeance.
Masvidal’s Business Ventures Before His UFC Return
While Masvidal works on his UFC comeback, he has also been staying active in other ways. As a businessman, he promotes the Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA event, which is set to take place in Biloxi, MS, on November 15. This event will feature a bantamweight title fight between Randy Costa and Brandon Davis, streamed live on the Gamebred YouTube channel.
However, once his business commitments are wrapped up, Masvidal plans to focus entirely on his UFC comeback and his fight against Edwards. Will the Leon Edwards fight be next? Let us know!
