Jorra Gill is all set to try to equal the score with Jack Hardy at Rise and Conquer 12 this Sunday at the Rainton Arena.
Both men met in the promotion’s last show, with Hardy edging a split decision on the judge’s scorecards. If the fight taught Gill anything, it was to never leave it down to the judges.
Gill comes into the fight with a (3-2) record and has displayed a killer instinct to finish fights in the past, which is what he’ll be looking to do on Sunday evening.
Before the rematch, Jorra Gill caught up exclusively with Combat Sports UK. Hear what he had to say below ahead of Rise and Conquer.
Interview With Jorra Gill
Jorra, Sunday, you get the opportunity to get redemption over the last man that defeated you, Jack Hardy. Firstly, break down the first fight between use down and overall. Let me know your thoughts on the first fight.
The first fight, I thought, was very close, tbh, and Jack put up a good fight. It was very back and forth. I believe the fight could have gone either way, but it is what it is.
You were originally set to face Will Brown, and Jack lost his opponent too. When Rise and Conquer came to you with the bout, was there any hesitation on your end, or were you 100% willing to run it back?
There’s never any hesitation when a fight has been offered; I’m always ready whenever it’s like the rematch was destined to happen as both our fighters had pulled out.
What was your biggest takeaway from the first fight with Jack?
Never leave it to the judges.
Having been in there with him before, does that give you a sense of confidence knowing you’ve been there and felt everything he has to offer?
I know Jacks has been training hard, and he’s a very skilled opponent. I know we’ve both improved, but I’m highly confident I’ll get the job done come Sunday.
Gill Talks Rematch
What changes do you feel in your game you must make to have the result fall in your favour this time round?
No matter whether I won or lost the fight, there are always changes to make for me to improve and better my skill set. I’m always training seven days a week. I’m always improving.
Jack said to beat you convincingly. He must “Make him tired, be in his face the whole fight and stick to the game plan.” I’ll ask you the same question: What do you need to do on Sunday night to get your hand raised?
I love nothing more than someone getting in my face for a fight. That’s where I fight best, so my plan is going to be exactly the same get in his face from the get-go. This fight is going to be fire against fire. We’re both going to be bringing the heat. It’s going to be a matter of who the last one standing is.
If you get your hand raised and all goes well. How does Jorra Gill celebrate?
Cliche as you like some big fat scran and nice chill-out.
