Fight Analysis
This match presents a classic setup of experience versus rising talent. Aldo, with his vast experience and accolades, will look to assert his dominance and prove he still belongs at the top of the sport. Martinez, on the other hand, will aim to use his youth and momentum to outpace the veteran. Both fighters have the ability to finish the fight via knockout.
The king of Rio returns in a masterclass vintage performance securing a unanimous decision. Round 1 was very competitive and showed a slow start from Aldo initially eating a few leg kicks. However eventually Aldo started checking the kicks and landing some shots of his own but Martinez was able to keep up.
Round 2 saw Aldo begin to seperate himself more clearly opening up on the feet more landing body shots and to the head. Aldo was also able to land some kicks of his own including one to the head however Martinez landed a good elbow at the end of the round. Round 3 saw Aldo open up even more and dropping Martinez with a left hook and knee to the body. Aldo then spent the rest of the round on top.
Aldo was rightfully awarded a unanimous decision victory. And once again Aldo reminds us why he is so legendary even in his advanced age.
