Joseph Parker has come in at a career high weight for his bout against the late notice replacement Martin Bakole.
Parker weighs 267lbs, which is also just under 19st 1lbs to face the fellow big man Martin Bakole.
The New Zealander has been in great spirits since hearing the news Bakole will replace Daniel Dubois just last night.
Him and Bakole haven’t come face to face with Martin not even entering Riyadh yet after starting travel from the Congo last night.
Instead Parker decided to have a ceremonial face off with promoter Frank Warren.
Parker has explained to media he is happy to take on Bakole on short notice.
It’s been amazing, to Daniel, I hope he gets better soon. To Martin Bakole, thank you for taking this fight at short notice. It’s been crazy, I’d like to thank Martin, I’m looking forward to being in a ring with him.”
He reiterates his acceptance of this fight.
“I wanted this fight, I wanted to challenge myself and Bakole is right up there, bring him on!”
Parker and his team have prepped a game plan for his new opponent.
“There are a few changes we’ve worked on, it will all come together tomorrow!”
Joseph Parker Full Of Surprises-
Even Parkers promoter Frank Warren was surprised he took the fight on short notice.
We had a list of fighters we talked about and this was the one he asked for – which I was a bit surprised about. I stood back and said ‘hang on a minute’. I want to see this guy do it now. How many people in boxing have seen much of Bakole? Let’s see what he’s about now.”
Warren claimed Bakole ‘isn’t so avoided now’.
“The monster, the so-called avoided fighter… well he’s not being avoided by Joseph Parker.”
Andy Clarke for Sky Sports Boxing has said this won’t be easy for Bakole.
“Parker is crafty, experienced. Look at what he did to Wilder and Zhang, look at his size. People are saying this is hard for Parker but this is very hard for Bakole.”
Whereas ex opponent Derek Chisora believes Parker gets knocked out by Bakole.
“He’s going to knock Joseph Parker out”
