Julius Bernsdorf will make his return to the Golden Ticket cage this Saturday at Golden Ticket Fight Promotions 22 in Wolverhampton.
The K.K Steelmill will play host to a stellar night of action. Bernsdorf will face Kacper Klekot with the aim of snapping his three fight skid he finds himself on. Prior to his contest with Kacper, we had a few minutes to catch up with the amateur fighting out of Iceland.
Hear what he had to say below.
Interview With Julius Bernsdorf
IT’S FIGHT WEEK! You will make the first walk to the cage in just under a year at Golden Ticket Fight Promotions 22. How have things been since the last time we saw you on GTFP 20?
Things have been very good since my last fight. I trained and improved every day since last time.
This will be your third time competing under the GTFP banner. You must like the show and how it’s run to be willing to come back. What is it that you like about the show?
The thing I like most about the show is that they treat amateur fights and fighters like professionals.
For the people I have yet to speak to, I like to ask them a brief bit about their background and how they got involved in MMA. Do you have any interesting stories in that department about how you found MMA and why it was a path you decided to pursue?
I don’t have a special story on how I got to train and fight mma. It’s the classic “I got bullied in school and got into martial arts” story.
It’s been three without a victory. In your honest assessment. What do you feel has been going wrong, and are you able to make the correct adjustments now?
I think what went wrong in my past fights was my stance which I had been working on since my last defeat.
Julius Bernsdorf Talks Kacper Klekot
Kacper Klekot is the man you’ll face come Saturday night in Wolverhampton. What do you know about your opponent, if anything?
I don’t know a lot about him and have never seen him fight before.
The experience is heavily in your favour, with Kacper only having one fight so far. Do you anticipate experience playing a factor on Saturday night and falling in your favour?
It could play in my favour, but I will not underestimate my opponent because he has fewer fights than I have.
What are some of the biggest values you’ve taken from your amateur career thus far?
The biggest values I took from my past fights are the things I learned. The amount of knowledge a fighter gets while fighting is incomparable.
Having spent some time out and having had dedicated time to improve in each area. Where do you personally feel you’ve made the biggest improvements since we last saw you?
My biggest improvements are my stance and wrestling game.
Finally, leave us with your official fight prediction. How do you get it done?
I don’t know yet how I will end the fight since I don’t know anything about my opponent.
