At BKFC 69 in Atlanta, fans witnessed the fastest KO in combat sports history. The event, held at Gas South Arena, was headlined by bantamweights Keith Richardson and Michael Larrimore. Former UFC bantamweight Nate Maness also made his BKFC debut, securing a TKO victory in round three following his controversial release from the UFC earlier this year.
Justin Watson Sets Record with Fastest KO in Combat Sports History at BKFC 69
BKFC has had significant growth in popularity this year, largely due to UFC star Conor McGregor becoming a part owner. Since taking on this role, McGregor has actively promoted events and even hinted at potentially competing in BKFC himself.
At BKFC 69, Justin Watson knocked out Cole Ferrell in just two seconds. This was with a powerful right hand, ending the fight. Ferrell quickly rose and protested the stoppage, but Watson began walking him down before being pulled away.
Conor McGregor reacted to the historic knockout on Instagram, saying;
“The world’s fastest KO! WOW!”
The BKFC president Dave Feldman showed a stopwatch, confirming the 2.9-second knockout as the fastest in combat sports.
UFC fans may recall Conor McGregor’s 13-second KO of Jose Aldo in 2015, still the fastest KO in UFC title history. Watson’s 2.9-second KO is now being touted as the fastest KO in combat sports history, surpassing Phill Willaims’ 10-second boxing KO and Jorge Masvidal’s 5-second UFC knockout over Ben Askren.
Eddie Alvarez to Return to BKFC at Knuckle Mania 5, Faces Off with Jeremy Stephens
It was recently announced that former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, who previously fought Conor McGregor, will return to the BKFC ring at Knuckle Mania 5 on January 25th.
Eddie Alvarez, known as “The Underground King,” made his BKFC debut in April, earning a split-decision victory over fellow ex-UFC star Chad Mendes.
Ahead of his comeback, Alvarez and his opponent, Jeremy Stephens, exchanged heated words during their faceoff.
“You lost way too much. You’ve never beaten a world champion. You’ve never been a champion. You’ll never be a f*cking champion,” Alvarez told Stephens after the press conference for Knuckle Mania 5.
