Kai Asakura is known for his impressive knockouts in Japan and will make his highly anticipated UFC debut at UFC 310.
The flyweight will be facing off against Alexandre Pantoja in a title fight. This comes nearly a year after his last fight against Bellator veteran Juan Archuleta.
Kai Asakura’s Brutal KO Victory Over Ulka Sasaki: A Showcase of His Unmatched Power
The former RIZIN bantamweight champion is known for his devasting power. This is with 13 knockouts in 21 wins and is moving down to 125lbs for his UFC career. Fans are eager to see if his knockout power will carry over after the tougher weight cut.
Kai Asakura’s most terrifying victory came back in 2019 when he earned a title shot after a brutal knockout over Ulka Sasaki. Less than a minute into their co-main event, Asakura dropped Sasaki with a vicious right hand and followed up with relentless ground-and-pound.
However, the stoppage became even more shocking when Asakura began landing brutal knees to Sasaki’s head while he was down. While legal in RIZIN, the UFC recently adjusted its rules regarding knees to a grounded opponent, now only deeming a fighter “down” if they have another body part touching the ground, aside from their hands or feet.
Despite the knees, it was the soccer kicks to Sasaki’s head that left fans stunned. These strikes, which are currently still illegal in the UFC, showcased Asakura’s lethal power. After the fight, Sasaki revealed that Asakura had broken his jaw in two places, solidifying the Japanese champion’s reputation for extraordinary knockout strength.
Kai Vows to Deliver Spectacular Knockout in UFC Flyweight Title Fight Against Pantoja
Although many UFC fans may not be familiar with Asakura’s work yet, the flyweight title challenger is determined to make an impact with another “spectacular knockout” and prove his skills to the UFC audience. In a recent UFC interview Kai Asakura said;
“My advantage over Pantoja is that I can end the fight with one shot,” Asakura said in a UFC interview. “If he makes even one mistake, the fight could be over.”
Kai continued when he said;
“For UFC fans watching me for the first time… don’t blink! I’m aiming to win with a spectacular knockout.”
Alexandre Pantoja, known as ‘The Cannibal,’ is undefeated by knockout in his entire MMA career, a rare feat.
