The UFC 293 card in September has reportedly added a flyweight banger between Kai Kara-France and Manel Kape.
The event will take place at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia, on Sept. 10. ESPN MMA journalist Brett Okamoto broke the news via Twitter.
“Good one added to UFC Sydney in September. No. 5 flyweight Kai Kara-France vs. No. 9 Manel Kape verbally agreed to, per sources. Who you got here?”
As things stand, Kara-France has the No.5 ranking next to his name in the flyweight division, while his opponent, Kape, looms in the distance at No.9. The Kiwi is facing a two-fight losing skid to Brandon Moreno and Amir Albazi for the first time since 2014/15. Meanwhile, Kape finds himself with three consecutive wins, which include two stoppages over Ode Osbourne and Zhalgas Zhumagulov and a decision over David Dvorak.
Despite Kai-France not getting his hand raised earlier this month, many believe he was robbed of a victory and half his pay-check against Albazi. It would appear the New Zealander doesn’t intend to sit and dwell on the controversial decision. Instead, he plans to make things right with a win over the risking Kape.
Kai-France will likely be joined by teammate and UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, who is expected to feature on the UFC 293 fight card. Adesayna will face the winner of the upcoming bout between Robert Whittaker and Dricus du Plessis, which is certain to take the headlining spot.
