UFC megastar Conor McGregor has claimed that Kamaru Usman is his probable opponent in his UFC return. This has caused welterweight champion, Usman, to respond to the Irishman. Although it isn’t the first time the pair have traded jabs, it feels as though we are getting closer to blows.
McGregor initially stoked the flames by telling The Mac Life:
“I believe myself vs. Usman for the 170-pound title for my comeback fight is the one I’m eyeballing at the minute,”
“There’s no need to deplete me. And I feel confident against Usman – a jab-happy, sloppy orthodox wrestler with no submissions whatsoever. What’s he gonna do? Where’s the danger here? I don’t see danger with him.”
Kamaru Usman Responds to Conor McGregor
Usman has fired back by claiming he would be willing to fight “Mystic Mac” but thinks it is a false charge by “The Notorious”, telling TMZ:
“Right now, we kind of got Leon Edwards sitting there, you got the other loudmouth little kid, what’s his name, the Irish kid, the Irish guy. You got the Irish guy, you forget [McGregor]”.
“This is why you forget, this guy is not relevant, he hasn’t done anything in the sport as of late. So for him to be relevant, he has to try to attach his name to someone relevant and that is what the media is not understanding, the media is not getting.”
While Kamaru Usman may believe McGregor to be bluffing, McGregor is eager for the challenge.
