Kamaru Usman was spotted parting the night before his fight reveal with Khamzat Chimaev claims Jorge Masvidal
In an interview with MMA Mania, Masivdal says “I was walking into this establishment, I had my shades on and somebody goes, ‘Jorge Masvidal, what’s up?’ I go, ‘Man, that voice sounds **king familiar.’ I turned around, this is at 4:30 in the f**king morning, bro. It’s Usman’s ass and he’s got glasses too. What the ***k?”
“I look, I must have lost my ***king mind. I lift [my glasses] up and I go, ‘Usman?! and he goes, ‘What’s up, Masvidal?’ This mother***ker, bro. That was literally the day before he got the announcement for the fight. So I just want to say if that guy has like five or six weeks to prepare for Chimaev, he takes him out. Guaranteed. He knocks his ass dead.”
Given Masvidal’s former rivalry with Usman, a few years ago this interaction would have seemed even comical. However, it seems that the pair have buried the hatchet, as their encouter was friendly and cordial according to Masvidal.
Kamaru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev
Kamaru Usman lost a majority decision against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294. Whilst Chimaev got the nod, Usman has received much of the credit for his performance. Chimaev, one of the UFC’s top propsects, made his move to middleweight from welterweight.
Originally set to face Paulo Costa, Kamaru Usman stepped in on short notice. With Usman walking away with a majority decision, he has solidied himself as very much present in the title picture still. With many of the MMA media judging the fight a draw, or so far as a win for Usman, the former welterweight champ should not be ashamed of his performance that night.
