20-year-old Shore MMA product Kane Darcy is excited about fighting alongside his professional teammates for the first time at Cage Warriors 142 on August 13th. The card, which goes down at the Ebbw Vale Sports Centre, will host both professional and amateur cards.
Fighting at CW142
We are all aware of Shore MMA’s list of young prospects, and Kane Darcy sits high up on that list. After beginning his amateur fighting just over a year ago, he’s been heavily active, with eight fights worth of experience already under his wing.
With a record of 5-3 and three finishes, he’s on track to becoming another phenomenal Welsh prospect. He recently won silver in Liverpool at the Four Nations Championships and looked really impressive.
Now, he is preparing for his first televised fight at Cage Warriors 142. Speaking on occasion, he said, “when I first got offered to fight on the card, I was excited as it gives me a chance to, not only fight with most of my teammates but my pro teammates too!”.
It is now confirmed that Kane’s pro teammates fighting on the card includes: Oban Elliot, Josh Reed, Scott Pedersen, Steph Evans and Owain Williams.
With regards to their training, the Welshman believes fighting alongside teammates only benefits you.
“We are a gym that trains all year round. I like that there are a few of us from the gym training for fights on this card. As they get sharper, so do I. Its iron sharpens iron sort of deal.”
Fighting Jordan Little
Darcy will be taking on experienced amateur Jordan Little. Little holds an 8-6 record and also won silver at the Four Nations Championships in July.
Speaking on his opponent, Darcy has said, “after my first opponent pulled out, Jordan stepped in straight away, so props to him.
“Both of us taking silver in Liverpool and us both being very active fighters, I think it’s tough. However, it’s a great matchup to show off my skills.
“I see it being a tough fight, but I wasn’t expecting anything else being offered to fight on this card. If it’s in the first, or it takes all three rounds, I’m going to be ready.”
What’s next?
With his teammates, all progressing in their own careers, what’s next for Kane in his post CW142?
“I’ve only been fighting for just over a year and getting in eight fights. I’m in no rush to turn pro. I’ve got goals to achieve first, such as the IMMAFs and winning that CWAW belt.
Turning pro is definitely in my future, just not yet. With a team like mine around me, I know I’ll make the jump at the right time.”
