Karol Rosa opens the UFC 280 card with a majority decision win over Lina Länsberg at Bantamweight.
In a competitive round, both women have their moments. Early on it’s Lina Länsberg who gets the best of it. Landing well and even scoring a flash knockdown on Rosa who bounces straight back up. She proceeds to use her clinch to control against the fence, before being reversed. Karol trips Lina and gains top control which she holds for the second half of the round.
In the second round, Rosa sees a clear hole in Länsberg’s game. Once again she takes the fight to the mat immediately. More aggressive this round Karol begins to find a home for a lot of her shots. An illegal knee to a grounded Lina from Rosa halts the action.
The referee takes a point for the knee and the action resumes back in the centre. Within seconds Rosa dives to the takedown and scores it with ease.
Now entering the third round, Karol Rosa has a clear path to victory, despite being minus one point. The round starts with both women swinging before Lina initiates a clinch and takes the fight to the cage. Both gain advantageous positions on the fence and look to do damage. Ross gets the best of it landing some huge punches.
What’s Next?
Number 9 before the fight Karol Rosa is now firmly in the top 10. Another step up in competition would be ideal for the Brazilian as she looks to move closer to the title. In a division stacked with talent, there is no shortage of matchups.
At only 27, she has her best years ahead of her. With a card in Brazil in January, we could likely see a return for her then.
