Scotland’s Keir Harvie has had his next fight announced. He will take on Vince Bembe at EFC in Johannesburg on July 16th.
The South African promotion Extreme Fighting Championships have been a revelation as of late and looks sure to become a global MMA power in the near future. There EFC Johannesburg event takes place July 16th and already boasts the return of fellow Scotsman Mark Ewen. Ewen and Harvie both come from the Higher Level MMA gym as highly regarded prospects.
Keir Harvie comes into this one on the back of a decision loss to tough Angolan Nerick Simoes. Harvie’s previous fight in the promotion was a victory over an 18 fight veteran. Yet to be finished, Harvie’s close decision losses serve as valuable lessons and cage time. The Bathgate based featherweight has already fought for Cage Warriors in the UK, securing a first-round triangle choke over otherwise unbeaten Manny Akpan.
He takes on South African Vince Bembe. Bembe is a 3-1 fighter who has fought exclusively in EFC. He is coming into this off a win over Trezeguet Kanyinda on points. His only loss comes by rear-naked choke, something Harvie thrives at offensive grappling. Bembe is diverse in his skillset, though, as the fighter has a win each by way of punches, by submission and by decision.
The event will be available on the promotion’s website to purchase and stream. This event won’t be one to miss as Harvie tries to take the next step in his blossoming MMA career in hostile territory.
