Kevin Holland and Ian Garry are two rising contenders in the welterweight division. They have proven to be outstanding fighters and are popular with the fanbase. Even though the athletes are both ranked, they won’t meet in the Octagon any time soon.
Kevin Holland The ‘Trailblazer’
Holland is always ready to throw hands. The American fighter has made a name in the UFC due to his entertaining performances on fight night. He has a professional record of 25-9 with 21 finishes. He has beaten the likes of Michael Chiesa, Santiago Ponzinibbio, and Jacare Souza. Holland is a fantastic striker with a great personality. He will take on any opponent thrown his way.
Furthermore, Holland is never in a dull fight and always brings his A-game to the Octagon. The 30-year-old will fight Jack Della Maddalena on a fight night in September. He will look to get a big performance against the Australian. In order to get himself further up the rankings.
Holland On Rising Star Garry
Garry is a true rising star in the UFC. The Irishman has a perfect professional record of 13-0 in eight finishes. He is coming off a win against Neil Mangy in a fight that he dominated from start to finish. Garry will now look towards the bigger fights at welterweight. For example, the 25-year-old will now look to face somebody like Stephen Thomson. Holland is a former opponent of Thompson and praised Garry on the ‘Believe You Me‘ podcast.
“The dude’s 25, and he takes his career very seriously. When I was 25, I didn’t give two sh*ts about the career, so props to that guy. When I was 25, I wanted to make it, but I didn’t care if I did. He’s there, and he’s taking advantage of it.”

The Plan For Garry
There have been many comparisons between Garry and fellow countryman Conor McGregor due to his elite striking skills and charismatic personality. It means that UFC probably has a plan to achieve the most out of Garry. Holland explained how a fight with himself was not part of the plan.
“UFC says they have a blueprint for these guys to be something special when they have the Irish accent, so he’s on his way. I think it’s going to be wonderful.”
Holland then went on to say,
“They have a blueprint for guys like that, and I don’t think I fit it,” Holland said. “I don’t think I fit the bill regarding what Ian Garry has planned and, you know, props to the guy. Nothing but respect.”
A fight between the two may not happen. However, if it does, it will draw much interest from fight fans.
