Kevin Lee will return to the UFC after around 18 months away from the company. A one-time interim Lightweight title contender. Lee left the organisation after a rough spell of form, winning just one of his last five bouts.
On his day Kevin was one of the most versatile fighters in the division. At only 30, he comes into the UFC off the back of a unanimous decision victory over Hall of Famer Diego Sanchez at Eagle FC 46.
In an interview with ESPN Lee detailed a meeting he had with UFC president Dana White. “I met with Dana White and [Chief Business Officer] Hunter Campbell, and I feel like I’m going back home,” He continued. “I’m grateful for them welcoming me back and looking forward to the next chapter of my career.”
He’s allegedly looking to make an in-cage return in the spring and is expected to compete in the Welterweight division.
Kevin Lee in the UFC
His previous UFC run saw him ranked as highly as #7. His time in the octagon saw him accrue a company record of 11-7, with an overall record of 19-7. Of his 19 wins, he has finished 11 of them, three via KO/TKO and eight by submission.
A proficient striker, he is best known for his strong grappling game. Using his size to his advantage, he had a technical edge that saw him rise the ranks in his first UFC stint.
A character outside the cage Kevin Lee was well known for his trash-talking before his fights. A very famous example of this would be his fight against Michael Chiesa.
Despite never holding gold, nor entering the top five, he did in fact headline six separate UFC events. This shows the faith the company have in Lee as a draw and the stock they have in him.
