Kevin Lee Keen to Find Person Responsible for Brutal Sparring Knockdown Leak
UFC veteran Kevin Lee went viral yesterday after footage of him suffering a vicious knockdown in sparring circulated online. In the video, Lee attempts a flying knee and is met by a right hook that sends him crashing to the floor.
Lee, a once highly touted prospect in the UFC left the organisation after losing to Rinat Fakhretdinov in 2023. He has since competed in Lights Out Championship in September 2024, beating Thiago Oliveira by Knockout.
As he gathers himself former champion Robbie Lawler can be seen helping him to his feet. Lee has since taken to X to address the video, claiming he is still unsure who shared the video:
“Idk who posted that video or why but I’m heading right now to find out,” Lee stated on a X post on Wednesday.
Although still uncertain who posted the video commentors on X speculated it may have come from Azerbaijani RIZIN Bantamweight Magerram Gasanzade (11-1-0). Lee took responsibility for the knockdown for not committing to the flying knee he threw:
“I can only blame myself for showing mercy and pulling my knee back but it’s training so I thought let me not blast him. I see I shouldn’t have been playing around with a guy like that. Since mfs wanna start showing sparring imma start showing sparrings from now on”
Despite having an injury plagued career Kevin Lee recently signed to the newly formed Global Fight League (GFL). Having retired and returned multiple times, time will tell whether he is back to stay.
