Khamzat Chimaev has had his return bout announced against Paulo Costa at UFC 294 as he attended UFC London last weekend. He appeared to be mocking the drinking habits of Irish icon Conor McGregor when he posted a picture of non-alcoholic wine while tagging the Irishman.
Khamzat Chimaev Returns
Spotted at UFC London last weekend, the Swedish bogeyman has his eyes set on his next opponent, and it will be at middleweight. His brash aura and audacious confidence have not subsided whilst he has been inactive. Claiming he has aims to be a three-weight division champion when speaking to media behind the scenes in the O2. The Chechen has not only been firing shots at his next opponent Costa on Twitter but also towards McGregor. Chimaev will make the walk to the octagon in Abu Dhabi in October against his toughest test to date and a match-up rich in bad blood.
Conor McGregor’s Comeback?
A date that continues to escape fans is the return date of Conor McGregor. After the announcement of his TUF season of coaching against Michael Chandler, many speculated it would be in perfect timing for the UFC’s 30th anniversary showing on November 11th. However, McGregor has not yet even entered the testing pool, so that date is entirely out of the question if the necessary six month USADA testing period is to be believed. Even with his involvement in the TUF season that has not yet excelled to the expectations of fans, the Irish star has not been able to avoid a few headlines tainting his character and demeanour.
As both men are huge stars of the sport, it was always likely they would cross paths and have interactions. McGregor has previously criticised Chimaev for weight misses, and the latter apparently had flown out in the past to confront McGregor on comments made about his country. The Irishman has not responded to the tweet as of yet.
