Interview With Kledjan Disha
Kledi, several days out before you make the walk to secure the BA amateur lightweight title. How are you feeling as we close in on fight night? Have you mastered managing the pre-fight nerves and the build-up?
I feel more ready than ever. I have been training hard and preparing for everything. Of course, being nervous is part of the game, but as soon as I step in the cage, the feelings go away, so, yeah.
You have found incredible success thus far in your amateur career. What would you put that down to?
This is just the beginning I will achieve more in this sport.
Kledjan Disha Talks Repping Albania
Although living in England, You proudly represent Albania when heading into battle. Firstly, what does that mean to you to fly that flag for your nation in competition, secondly, for the readers, could you educate them on the current MMA scene in Albania? Is there a strong scene and rise in up-and-comers?
I’m proud to be Albanian. It’s the best feeling to represent my country. I know I live in the UK, and the UK has given me a lot of opportunities, which I very much appreciate. But. in my veins there is Albanian blood, and that does not change. There are a lot of Albanian fighters around the world, and I’m sure they will succeed, we’re a strong nation with no fear, and the sport will grow not just in Albania but everywhere.
Florinel Boanca is the man standing in your way of claiming the featherweight title. What would it mean to you to leave Coventry with that belt around your waist and be rewarded for your hard work?
There’s no man standing in my way. My time will come soon. All the hard work and the sacrifices will pay off!!
For those who haven’t witnessed a Kledi Disha fight. What are the fans in for?
For brutal fight domination, entertaining fight. I’m not a boring fighter, and I will never be. I always try to finish the fight as quickly as I can so I can enjoy some food after haha!! Everyone loves me, and I love that they give me such good support.
Your three amateur wins have all come in the first round. No fighter wants to be in there longer than they need to be. However, is there a part of you that does want to go the distance to bank that cage time and some new experiences?
Yes, of course, I would like to have some longer rounds, so I can see how my cardio holds up, but if I have the opportunity to finish the fight, then I don’t waste any time.
Saturday Night
You leave with the belt on Saturday night. What’s next for you? Will that be for the year, or are you looking to squeeze in one more?
I will be fighting on my November card as well and then have a few weeks off, definitely need some holidays.
Finally, for the readers to get a better understanding of you as a person and your goals. What’s the ultimate goal for you in MMA? If we were to talk 5/10 years from now. Where do you want to be?
My goal is to be one of the best and to join any bigger organization. Make a lot of money, and have my family secured for the rest of my life. My dream is to become a UFC champion, and with hard work and sacrifice, we will make it. Not a doubt, people may laugh now, but we will see who’s going to laugh at the end.
