Kristians Boguzs plans to put on a performance of a lifetime and to showcase to everyone why that Unity FC amateur lightweight championship is his.
Unity FC is set to go down on August 5, at the Dolphin Centre, in Darlington. The fight-card is shaping up to be the promotion’s most stacked event to-date, and Boguzs is looking to steal the show when he meets Kayne Holmes.
Ahead of this barnburner of a matchup, we had the opportunity of talking with Kristians Boguzs. Hear what he had to say below.
Interview With Kristians Boguzs
Kristian, at this stage, you are just belt collecting. You’ve found great success thus far in your time competing as an amateur. In your own assessment, what do you put your success down to? Is it the hard work, the people you have around you or a mixture of everything?
“It’s a mixture of hard work and the people I have around me because without my coach Madars I wouldn’t even be a fraction of what I am now.“
You recently made your K1 debut at the weekend. How did you enjoy that experience, what did you gain from that, and how important do you think it is to test your skills in different disciplines in between MMA fights?
“The K1 debut was just a bit of fun and was a good way for me to really start my training camp, and it really let me just focus on my striking everyone should look to compete in a mixture of combat sports if you want to get better at MMA.“
You stand at 7-0 with a pleasing record to look at. How much do you think about remaining undefeated, or is that not even on your mind ahead of fights?
“It’s a nice record, but the plan was just to fight whoever was in front of me. Even if I was 0-7, I would still be fighting and improving.“
Boguzs Talks Kayne Holmes
Unity FC you meet Kayne Holmes, a proven, tough, well-rounded fighter. Would you say this is your toughest test to date?
“I hope he will be my toughest test so that he can bring out the best in me and I can show everyone why that unity fc belt is mine.“
There’s plenty of tape out there on Kayne. What do you see in his skill set when you watch back and plot your game plan?
!I think he has a nice striking and a good stable base, but just like everyone in this game, he has some weaknesses, and I will look to exploit them.“
What can fans expect from you come fight night?
“They will see a high-paced and highly skilled fight that will end up with me getting my hand raised.“
You’re garnering a lot of amateur experience. Is the pro-circuit in your mind at all at this stage?
“In terms of becoming a pro, I am still 19, and I have a lot of time. There is no need to rush now. I would rather prove myself and have tough fights now and gain a lot of experience rather than jump into the deep end into something I am not ready for.”
