Kristians Boguzs faces up to his first challenge of 2023 on Saturday night, March 4th. When he takes on James Bishop for the Lightweight Title at UNITY FC, in Dolphin Centre, Darlington.
The Latvian native feels his fast-paced fighting style & pressure may be too much for Bishop to handle.
Boguzs currently boasts a 5-0 undefeated record. 2 of those wins came via submission. We had the pleasure of catching up with him ahead of fight night.
Interview with Kristians Boguzs
As we approach fight night, you also approach your first bout of 2023. Tell us your thoughts & feelings in the lead-up to this fight.
Well, unfortunately, I got injured back in November & I haven’t managed to fight since then. So I’m just really excited to get back in the cage & put on a performance.
Returning to the cage with the chance of winning the lightweight title, are there any nerves coming into this fight?
I’m never really nervous before a fight. I train too hard to even think about anything that might go wrong in the cage. All I think about is entertaining the crowd.
You’ve been pretty active over the last year or so, despite suffering an injury in late 2022. Amassing a clean record of 5-0, do you plan on being just as active in 2023?
I plan to fight as much, or even more than I did last year. It’s like an addiction!
Talking James Bishop
Facing up to James Bishop for Lightweight gold. How do you see the fight panning out? Any Predictions?
I plan to be very active throughout the whole fight. I will put the pressure on him from start to finish.
Any thoughts on how the fight finishes?
Whatever presents itself first, I will take.
Kristians Boguzs On The Future
Looking past Saturday’s bout. What’s next for you? Is there anyone you’d like to see step up & fight you?
I’m not bothered about who’s next. I just want to fight the hardest challenges that are there for me.
