The UK’s second UFC champion, Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards is to defend his title in 2 months against former champion, Kamaru Usman in London at UFC 286. Having done many interviews as we approach the fight is visibly extremely confident despite many including himself saying his last performance was one of his worse, regardless of winning the title.
Edwards is set to headline UFC 286 in the trilogy fight against Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title in London. Currently, one win for each man, Usman first winning in 2015 and Edwards levelling the score last august with the comeback & knockout of the year to win the title. In the past months, fans and media began to suspect that the trilogy wasn’t going to happen in London after hand surgery rumours for Usman but thankfully the rematch came to fruition.
Last Weeks UFC 286 Q&A…
Last week the UFC held a public Q&A for Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards, ‘Almighty’ Arnold Allen and Nathaniel Wood. During the Q&A Edward was more than the centre of attention from every fan and journalist in the room and had this to say about his up coming match up…
“To beat the pound-for-pound [number one] on your worst night, I think that’s one of my worst performances as far as career-wise goes in the UFC,” Leon Edwards stated during a Q&A session. “To be able to still stay calm under that going into the fifth round and to get the KO. I think that shows character from me. That shows my mental I.Q. for the fight game, as far as knowing when to land that shot.”

Edwards then goes on to add later on…
“I think taking all that into the fight, it’s going to be a good night for me,” Leon Edwards continued. “I know he’s (Kamaru Usman) tough, I know he’s good – I’m not deluded. I know he’s a good fighter, but I truly believe that I’m better and I can’t see how he comes over and beats me in London.”

Can Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards Defend His Belt?
All very good points by the champion. For Usman to come into enemy territory and take back his title is a massive task but if anyone is capable of doing it, Usman is that guy. Only time will tell. Tune in on March 18th to watch Birmingham’s own Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards defend his title against Kamaru Usman at UFC 286, it’ll be a belter of a night.
