The UK’s Lerone Murphy certainly lives up to his nickname “The Miracle”. The UFC star recently posted to his Instagram, letting the world know of his near-death experience.
Murphy was riding his bike on May 17th when an unfocused driver hit him. The Fighter was struck at speed and seriously injured whilst losing significant amounts of blood. Murphy passed out at initial impact before coming to, with his first thought being gratitude.
Delays in ambulance arrival time caused the fighter to bleed out nearly. This isn’t the first time the fighter has come close to meeting his maker, though, as he was shot three times back in 2013. Murphy believes he is here for a greater purpose, and it’s hard to dispute.
Lerone Murphy Surgery
Lerone Murphy has since had surgery, as he announced on Twitter. He let his fans know it was a success, much to everyone’s relief. While it is early days yet, we hope to see the Englishman back in the cage at some point.
As a 21-year-old, Murphy has shot in broad daylight in both the neck, chin and face in an attempted hit. After some time in intensive care, Murphy, as we now know it, made a full recovery other than some new teeth and a piece of the bullet still in his tongue. Six months later, he joined a newly opened MMA gym and started a new, UFC bound life.
Currently undefeated, with eleven wins and one draw, this will be a huge setback for Murphy. As he has proven before, though, if anyone can come back better than ever, it is the Manchester Top Team fighter Lerone “The Miracle” Murphy.
