Welsh welterweight Lewis Long is set to meet Thibault Gouti on May 6th at Bellator Paris. Long’s record stands at 19-6, and he is looking to get his third consecutive win under Bellator banners.
Lewis Long vs. Thibault Gouti
His last two wins came in October of 2020 and 2021 against Gianni Melillo and Michael Dubois. Both of his wins came via round one submission, and he’ll look to make it three in Paris.
Regarding his fight camp, Long stated: “camp has been fire. I’ve kept the faith all through Christmas and the birth of my boy. I’ve not let anything slide. I hate the typical response, but I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in.”
His opponent, Thibault Gouti, will be making his Bellator debut in front of his home crowd. The Frenchman is 15-5, with all five of his defeats coming during his time with the UFC. A hard-hitter with a great deal of skill to offer.
It’s that skill that makes Long respect his opponent: “He’s in with me because he is good, he’s no pushover, and GT has a wealth of experience.”
Long’s Mentality
The 33-year-old doesn’t keep his confidence a secret and believes there’s no doubt that he will get the win. The three-round contest will be a great watch for fans to watch.
With both guys in such fine form, Long can’t predict how or when the fight will end but can’t see a way in which his opponent will win.
A win on May 6th would be “The Foot’s” 20th victory inside the cage, and with aspirations of a title down the line, you can’t doubt his self-belief.
Bellator 280
The Paris card will be headlined by a heavyweight title clash. Champion and UFC veteran Ryan Bader will defend his title against Cheick Kongo. The co-main event will also see fan-favourite Yoel Romero battle Melvin Manhoef.
Long has featured on some quality Bellator cards but this one stands out for him. He described it as “class” and went on to say: “I’ve been a fan of some of these fighters for most of my life. It would be great to see them and possibly chat with them.”
Other Brits in action include; Jordan Barton, Mike Shipman, Charlie Leary and Gavin Hughes.
