Interview With Liam Hardy
Saturday, 5th August, you will return to compete under Unity FC for the second time this year. Assuming you enjoyed the first, how have things been since your most recent outing inside and outside the cage?
Yeah, it was fantastic, defo the best show I’ve been on, and since then, everything has been great; relaxed, and I got straight back in the gym.
Last time out, you found yourself back in the win column in fanatic fashion, stopping Kyle McCulloch early into the first round. What have you taken from that fight, and was there any part of you that wanted the fight to go longer to showcase your overall improvements?
Yeah, I felt so relaxed in the and thought it was the most composed and alert I’ve been for a while, and yeah, of course, I wanted it to go a little longer, but who doesn’t want a first-round finish?
The man you’ll face in August is Charlie Walker, and the featherweight championship will be on the line. How much-added motivation does the gold strap on the line add to camp?
I’m always equally as motivated, no matter what the fight is, but with it being for the unity belt, I’m very excited and ready to get to work ready to fight for that title.
Hardy Talks Charlie Walker
In terms of Charlie Walker, do you feel this is your toughest and biggest fight to date?
I think Charlie is a great fighter, and it’s definitely my biggest fight and biggest opportunity I have had against a guy like Charlie. I couldn’t think of anything better.
I believe you shared a card with Charlie last time out. Have you paid any attention to him, and was it a fight you envisioned you’d have in the future?
I never really envision anyone. I just wait for a fight to be confirmed and then prepare. I just take everything as it comes and look forward to big opportunities such as this.
When you look into his previous fights and what he offers, what do you see in his game, and do you anticipate him bringing anything to the cage you’ve not seen before?
I’ve been training all my life, and I’ve seen all different styles, and I can honestly say I am ready for anything. Just can’t wait for the challenge Charlie brings to the table.
Just highlight what it would mean to you to walk away in August with the UNITY FC featherweight strap.
It would mean everything. This is the reason I do what I love, to be rewarded with opportunities like fighting for a title, especially on an amazing show like Unity. Very very excited.
Finally, can you leave us with an official prediction and any final words you may have for Charlie before use clash?
I’m just going to go in there and do what I do, and planning on coming out with the win. Good luck, too, Charlie. I can’t wait to share the cage with him.
