Interview with Liam Hardy
Looking forward to Fight Night on Saturday, in a lightweight bout vs Kyle McCulloch. How has the camp been? Tell us how you’re feeling coming up to the fight.
Yeah it’s been good, feeling healthy and motivated, I’m looking forward to challenging myself more and more each time I step in the cage.
First fight of 2023, Do you feel like you have added to your skill set since your last outing? What have you done to take your game to the next level?
Yeah feels good to be back early in the year and I think I improve differently every fight camp. I’ve done nothing different just worked hard and kept healthy. I’ve definitely added to my skill set but it’s more hard work for me.
Still very very young in terms of age in MMA, how active do you feel you can be this year? How active would you like to be?
Yeah, I have the whole of my career ahead of me and I’m looking forward to it. Definitely want to keep busy this year but I also want to take my time, if a fight comes up and I’m ready and fit I’ll take it. I’ll never back down from a challenge.
Talking Fight Night
Facing up to a Scottish fighter in England, do you feel like Home advantage will play a part? Will the backing of fans spur you on?
Hmm, maybe. I don’t know… I don’t think it matters where I fight. If I fight on home turf or at away turf, I think I would perform the same. My fans always turn up. My friends and family will follow me everywhere I go. So yeah that’s good to have.
How do you see the fight panning out Saturday night? have you got a specific game plan?
Just gonna go with the flow and enjoy myself out there. It’s always nice to get a finish, but I’m just there to give it my all and hopefully come out with the victory.
Have you got any words for Kyle before meeting in the octagon Saturday night?
Good luck and it should be a good scrap, can’t wait.
Liam Hardy on the Future
Looking into the future, what comes next for you? is there anyone you’d like to meet in the cage at some point?
There are a lot of good lads in my division, a lot of lads who are either on the verge of pro or like myself climbing the ranking. At this moment in time, give me anyone and I’m all for it, it’s more experience and cage time for me, I just want to be active.
Liam’s Heroes
Finally, is there anyone in the MMA world you like to compare your fighting style to? or any heroes that inspire you or you look up to?
I think my style at times is unique, something people have seen before but at the same time with my little spin on things. Jon Jones and Conor McGregor are the 2 who made me want to do what I do. Also, my dad, he’s always been my number one fan since day 1.
