ONE 161 sees a potential Muay Thai classic set to take place next month when the legendary Nong-O Gaiyanghadao defends his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title against the warrior Liam Harrison.
The world title match will take place at ONE 161: Moraes vs Johnson II on August 26, broadcast live on US prime time.
How Liam Harrison Earned His Shot
Liam Harrison earned his shot at the world title, pulling off a miraculous comeback victory against Muangthai PK. Saenchai this past April at ONE 156.
Harrison was knocked down twice early in the first round, and all looked lost for the 36-year-old.
Fighting on the back foot, Harrison was a man possessed and proceeded to drop Muangthai three times in less than a minute to earn the automatic TKO victory.
The win has been talked about as one of the greatest comebacks in ONE Championship history. Harrison’s also earned a $100,000 bonus from ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong for his phenomenal performance.
Key to Victory
Nong-O has earned a reputation as somewhat of a slow starter with three consecutive victories by knockout. All of those coming in the third round or later.
Liam Harrison will need to use his relentlessly aggressive style right from the start. Applying pressure on the world champion with an early knockdown, Harrison would thrive.
The longer the fight goes on, the tag of favourite goes to Nong-O.
Liam Harrison will need to use every bit of experience in this and tricks from his skillset to make sure the fight is finished early on.
