Michael Page title aspirations will have to wait longer after Bellator 281 loss to Logan Storley. The loss may seem controversial with it being a split decision in favour of Storley, who controlled the majority of the action, but without conflicting any real damage. Storely utilised his highly regarded wrestling credentials over 25-minutes to earn him the Interim Welterweight strap.
Defeated only once more aside from this was against Douglas Lima at Bellator 221, when he was KO’d 35 seconds into the 2nd round. Page equalled the score with a UD win over Lima in the long-awaited rematch at Bellator 267.
As of now, out of MVP’s 20 wins, only five came via decision, with three submissions and 12 KO/TKO’s, whilst amassing a reputation as one of the best strikers to ever come out of the UK with a variety of flashy strikes and spinning kicks. Always keeping the opposition on their toes. It seems Storley has created a blueprint to neutralize them.
Massive Victory for Logan Storley
Leading up to tonight, Logan Storley was riding a two-fight win-streak with back-to-back decisions over Dante Schiro and Neimann Gracie respectively, with a decent amount of momentum leading to his bout! He certainly capitalized on the opportunity presented, keeping the fight exactly where he wanted for most of the bout.
Prior to this bout, Storley had an incredible record of 13-1 (now 14-1). There was a mixed back of 8 KO/TKO and five decision victories, and the sole loss came by way of a split decision against Yaroslav Amosov at Bellator 252.
There was an incredible amount of respect between the athletes after the final bell.
What is next for MVP following the defeat? How soon does Storley fight for the title? What do yo guys think?
