Lone’er Kavanagh was able to kick off Season 8 of Dana White’s Contender Series with a bang. This was when he was able to secure a first-round knockout which left the UFC CEO writing “holy sh*t” on his bout sheet.
Lone’er Kavanagh Impressive Performance
In the season opener, Lone’er Kavanagh was opening the show against undefeated prospect An Tuan Ho. Kavanagh was able to knockout Ho with a brutal left hook. This ended the fight after only 2 minutes and 35 seconds.
An Tuan Ho was down on the Canvas for a long period of time, before blankly staring into the distance as his corner, medical staff and referee Herb Dean tried to assist him in coming back. Eventually, Ho was able to rise to his feet under his own power but was not present for the reading of the official decision.
Dana White will have the difficult decision this year by deciding which fighters deserve a UFC contract and who doesn’t. However, Kavanagh was able to increase his record to 7-0 with 5 of his victories coming by way of stoppage. However, I feel Dana White won’t have any decision to make here as the Cage Warriors fighter looks set to have punched his ticket into the UFC.
Cage Warriors has been able to supply many fighters to the UFC. This has included Molly McCann, Paddy Pimblett, Jai Herbert, Connor McGregor and many more. Cage Warriors have been labelled as one of the feeder organisations to the UFC. This is due to many fighters competing in the UFC that have fought for Cage Warriors or due to Cage Warriors being on the UFC fight pass which brings more attention to these fighters. It does, however, look like Lone’er Kavanagh will be the latest fighter to make the jump from Cage Warriors to the UFC.
