Tonight’s stacked Anthony Pettis FC 8: Manchester Fight Night headliner features a bantamweight clash between the always-entertaining Louis Lee Scott and Edgar Pigmeu.
After successful shows in the United States, APFC turns worldwide tonight after making the BEC Arena in Manchester, England, their home for the evening. Fights are set to get underway at 5pm via the promotions YouTube Channel, and the main card will take place live on UFC Fight Pass.
The card is jammed with professional and amateur talent from across the country, as well as Ireland, and further afield.
As mentioned, Scott and Pigmeu will top the card. However, before that, fans attending and tuning in are treated to some stellar action. The co-headliner will feature James Williams and Karvann Ahmadi in a bout that promises to deliver. The fight card will also feature the professional debut of UK prospect Jack Axworthy.
Louis Lee Scott Earns Hard Fought Win at APFC 8
Louis Lee Scott entered the bout boasting an impressive (6-0) record, with all his professional victories coming by way of finish. As of late, the Leeds lad has picked up some big wins on some notable promotions, such as the PFL. Earlier this year, Scott finished Sam Robinson with a head kick to grab some big players’ attention under the PFL banner. Shortly after, he followed his round one mauling over Robinson up with another stoppage over Leandro Lima at Caged Steel 32.
There was some uncertainty if Scott missed the opportunity to headline a card broadcasted worldwide after his ordinal opponent Carlos Abreu withdrew. Thankfully for the UK fight fans, Edgar Pigmeu stepped up.
As for Pigmeu, he came into the fight high on momentum with four-straight wins behind him, three of those coming in the first round. Overall, holding a (9-4) record, he looked to continue putting together the best run in his professional career.
What Unfolded
Both men came out to fight from the opening bell. Louis Lee Scott and Pigmeu got into an immediate fire fight, with both men landing kicks and touching one another. Scott used multiple attacks and really showcased his full arsenal of kicks, but Pigmeu continued brushing it off and firing his left hook back. With two minutes left of the first round, both men tested one another’s skills on the mat, and eventually, Scott allowed Pigmeu to get back to his feet, and both men banged it out until the end of the round.
Pigmeu eats a head kick straight off the bat in the second round from Scott and brushes it off. Scott continues to dance around Pigmeu, throwing a variety of kicks, but Pigmeu eats them like they are nothing. A rare charge forward from Pigmeu resulted in Scott shooting for a takedown, and after a quick-scramble, Scott ended up on top, landing sharp elbows from the top.
Into the third, Scott’s looking as loose as the first, chopping at his opponent’s body and legs. Pigmeu lands a clean shot, which Scott counters with a takedown and takes Pigmeu’s back. Scott isn’t even breathing heavily as he touches Pigmeu against the fence. Meanwhile, Pigmeu looks like he’s feeling the pace of the fight, breathing with his mouth wide open. After a scramble, both men get back to their feet, and Pigmeu lands a shot that drops Scott right towards the end of the round. Scott fires back and takes Pigmeu down until the final bell.
Official result: Louis Lee Scott def. Edgar Pigmeu by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
