As the countdown begins to his second fight of the year at Almighty Fighting Championship 35, Louis Power is filled with anticipation and determination. Mentally and physically prepared, he’s looking forward to stepping into the cage once again and showcasing his skills in Deeside, Wales.
“The plan this year was to fight as much as I can, after my next one on Saturday, I’ll be looking to step in the cage at least three more times this year if everything goes to plan,” says Power, highlighting his commitment to an active year of competition.
Reflecting on his journey from initial setbacks to his current three-fight win streak, Power attributes his success to continuous improvement and growing confidence in his abilities: “I think it was down to just improving my own skill set and getting better as a martial artist, as well as becoming more confident in what I’m capable of,” he explains.
Louis Power on Fighting at Welterweight
Taking on his upcoming opponent, Joel Caine, on short notice and in a weight class above, Power sees it as an opportunity rather than a setback. “Fighting at welterweight just means a much easier weight cut for me as I’m a very big lightweight, so going up a weight class I don’t feel I’ll be too outsized,” he shares.
Assessing Caine’s strengths, Power acknowledges the challenge but remains confident in his own abilities:
“I think he’s very good everywhere and is a well-rounded mixed martial artist, but so am I,” he states, emphasizing his belief in his skills.
Expressing gratitude for his support system, Power extends his thanks to his coaches, teammates, and supporters: “I’m just extremely grateful to be where I am today as a martial artist and I’m so thankful for my coaches and teammates at IMA who continually help me improve and get better,” he concludes, humbled by the journey thus far.
