Lucas Browne has sparred with Tyson Fury and gone head-to-head with Dillian Whyte, but he claims nobody hit him harder than a UFC icon.
The Australian sensation couldn’t believe how much power the MMA veteran packed in his punches.
Lucas Browne Reveals the Hardest Puncher He’s Ever Faced
At the peak of his career, Lucas Browne was known for his explosive knockout power, famously travelling to Chechnya, Russia, to defeat Ruslan Chagaev and claim the WBA Regular World Heavyweight Championship.
Throughout his career, the Australian was able to earn a fearsome reputation due to his punching prowess. Jeff Fench, who is the former trainer of Mike Tyson, even asserted that Browne “hit harder” than Mike Tyson. However, Browne got a dose of his own medicine during a sparring session with Mark Hunt.
Despite not being a traditional boxer, “The Super Samoan” showcased elite striking skills honed from his K-1 World Grand Prix victory, giving him the ability to deliver devasting punches against anyone bold enough to trade with him. In an interview on the David ‘White Rhino’ Allen YouTube channel, Brown recounted when he stated;
“I sparred with Mark Hunt. I hit him with everything, and he just smiled at me. Then he went, ‘Bang.’”
“He hit me the hardest I’ve ever been hit in my life.”
When he was asked if Hunt’s power surpassed that of Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte, the retired boxer didn’t hesitate:
“Without a doubt. He hit me in the forehead, and I went, ‘Wow.’”
Tyson Fury’s Decline? Browne Reflects on Sparring and Upcoming Usyk Rematch
While Tyson Fury may not have hit Browne as hard as Huny, Tyson Fury still left an impression. The Sydney brawler recalled that during their sparring sessions, the former champion was throwing “spinning back elbows.”
While standing at 6’9, Fury defied expectations with his extraordinary movement and elusive style, which has troubled nearly every opponent to share the ring with him. However, his last outing against Oleksandr Usyk exposed his vulnerabilities. Combining Usyk’s brilliance and Fury’s body seemingly catching up with him resulted in the first official loss of his career.
Come, December 21st, the two rivals will face off once again to determine whether Fury can reclaim the title. Regardless of the outcome, their reign at the top may be nearing its conclusion, especially with Fury himself suggesting there’s a fighter out there more talented than both of them.
