Magomed Ankalaev called out UFC Champion Alex Periera out for a potential title fight later on in the year.
Ankalaev who beat Jonny Walker in his last fight claims that Alex Periera “doesn’t have a chin.”
Alex Periera who knocked out Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 this weekend could potentially face the Russian in Abu Dhabi later on in the year.
Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Periera Set for Showdown
Since UFC 300 concluded on the weekend Magomed Ankalaev has been vocal on X (formerly Twitter) calling out Periera out to a fight later in the year at Abu Dhabi.
Magomed Ankalaev said; “@AlexPereiraUFC congratulation, I will stop in the first round by knockout @danawhite @Mickmaynard2 the man doesn’t have chin.”
The Russian went on to say; ““@AlexPereiraUFC vs me in Abu Dhabi.”
Ankalaev who has only lost once in his UFC career so far has had one title opportunity before and it resulted in a draw with Jan Blachowicz back in 2022.
After knocking out Jonny Walker, the Russian is set to become the main contender for Alex Pereira’s light heavyweight belt.
Pereira Eyes Three Weight World Champion Status
After UFC 300 concluded and Alex Pereira was crowed as the light heavyweight champion, the Brazilian stated he wanted to move up to the heavyweight division.
Alex Periera did call out UFC interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall with the pair potentially facing off at UFC 301 in three weeks’ time.
Whilst Dana White rejected the idea and labelled it a “bad idea” for Alex, it seems highly unlikely that the Brazilian will make the short turnaround to face Aspinall.
This is good news for Ankalaev as he hopes to face Alex Periera in Abu Dhabi.
Whilst Periera was the middleweight champion when he beat Israel Adesanya back in 2022
The Brazilian then moved up a weight division and beat Jamahal Hill to win the vacant lightweight title.
Whilst many UFC fighters dream of winning one title Periera aims to win three titles in different weight classes to cement himself as one of the greatest MMA fighters the UFC has produced in recent years.
