Magomed Ankalaev Reveals Next Fight
Light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev has now revealed his next fight in an update to his fans. Having secured the belt at UFC 313, the Russian is set for his first title defence. Writing on his official X (formerly Twitter) account Ankalaev said; “I have a date and I accepted already, I hope my opponent will accept too. This time there will be no 5 rounds, I don’t get paid by the hour #BigANK”
It is widely rumoured that a rematch will be expected for Alex Pereira due to the Brazilian having established himself as the sports fastest rising star. Blessed with elite kickboxing skills the former champion has been on a rampage in the light heavyweight division.
Alex Pereira Set for Instant Rematch
The rise of Alex Pereira has been nothing short of extraordinary. Having dominated the middleweight division till a loss to Israel Adesanya Pereira made the jump up to the light heavyweight division. Following this the Brazilian continued his dominance securing the light heavyweight belt and defending the belt at UFC 300 and against Khalil Rountree.
The loss to Magomed Ankalaev is Pereira’s first in this division. The Brazilian had been hoping to tee up a fight with Jon Jones following UFC 313. However, this setback has led to the Brazilian on the revenge path looking to reclaim his belt.
Following on, Alex Pereira will need to mitigate the grappling of Magomed Ankalaev. The Russian pinned up the former champion against the cage limiting the Brazilian to a handful of boxing exchanges. However, it does remain to be seen as to when and where the fight will take place. The UFC have not confirmed any dates or announced the fight.
