The long-awaited return of Mark Ewen is finally on the horizon. Ewen will be in action next month at Caged Steel, however, will also compete on Extreme Fighting Championships out of South Africa. Taking place on July 16th in Johannesburg. His opponent will be Adrian Sanchez (3-2) and will take place at lightweight. Mark will be looking to build on his incredibly impressive career start and further cement himself as one of the UK’s hottest prospects.
A Prospect
At only 24 years of age, Mark has quickly become a name to remember. 2-0 as a pro with two second-round KO/TKO finishes. Ewen has become a must-watch fighter. Making his name as an amateur Mark went 11-3-1 finishing all 11 wins. Ending his amateur career with a massive ten fight unbeaten run. Ewen became the number one ranked amateur in the whole of the UK and Ireland. Also a champion as an amateur, he’s shown he knows what it takes to go to the top.
With much hype surrounding him, many would feel the pressure. However, Mark only grows under the bright lights. Evident last time out at Almighty Fighting Championship 20, when he faced Tom Mullen. Defeating his counterpart prospect via TKO. Starting the sequence with an elbow in the clinch, Mark dropped his opponent and then finished him with strikes on the ground.
Adrian Sanchez
An EFC regular, the 30-year-old South African will feel right at home come July. With all five of his former professional fights taking place in the promotion. Despite his 3-2 record Adrian is not to be overlooked as a competitor. Both losses coming via decisions show Sanchez knows what it takes to go the distance and slug it out. Also going 3-2 as an amateur he has a decent level of experience and should feel right at home in front of a home crowd.
Coming off a victory. The last time out for Adrian was a first-round guillotine choke, against fellow South African Chris Dove (2-2). Looking to build off an impressive performance last time out, there would be no better way to do it than to beat Mark Ewen.
