Marlon Vera says he is confident the rematch will happen with newly crowned champion Sean O’Malley.
Vera picked up what could prove to be, the biggest of his career thus far at the weekend. A decision win over Pedro Munhoz, to potentially set up his first UFC title shot. The fan-favourite has already agreed to talk with the promotion, about a fight with former foe, and newly crowned champion, Sean O’Malley.
Marlon Vera Aims for December
In a recent interview for Michael Bispings BYM podcast, Vera revealed what was said between him and the UFC after he pitched the rematch with “Sugar”.
“I say, ‘Hey guys thanks for the opportunity comma, let’s talk comma, I’m down dot. And they say, ‘We’ll talk next week.’ I say, ‘Cool’,” Vera said.
In continuation, when asked if he would be willing to headline UFC 296, if the supposed headline fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler falls through. To which Vera replied; ‘I’m down man, I’m down that’s perfect timing to heal up and we both fought the same day [at UFC 292] so we have the same exact amount of time to get ready”.
Vera continued afterwards, stating her determination to beat O’Malley again and capture UFC gold; “I just want to win so that should make me more dangerous than anybody because I don’t give a f**k about the lights, the noise don’t bother me. I just want to make money and be world champion. I don’t give a f**k about the rest.

Sean Talks Chito Fight
After his historic win, O’Malley was quizzed about his thoughts on Vera’s fight earlier on own the night. O’Malley said; “Did Chito win? Was it boring? Probably,” O’Malley continued. “I’ll whoop Chito’s ass in December in Las Vegas at T-Mobile. Let’s f*****g go, baby!”
